Maker Made: An Interview with Jodie from Terrazzo & Titz

I found Jodie's bright and quirky home wares and knew they HAD to join the TMDCo. lineup. How could they not?? I was thrilled when the pieces came in even more beautiful than they looked online. Jodie kindly agreed to answer some questions about her biz and the lovely work she makes.

Arielle
: When did you first start working with your chosen medium? How long did it take to master it?
Jodie: I started working with Jesmonite in November 2020 where I totally rebranded my whole business from prints only to homeware made with Jesmonite. I took to it very quickly as I'd done a lot of research and testing before making my products but even now I'm still learning on new ways to use it and to be more efficient.

Arielle: What’s your favorite part of the process?
Jodie: My favourite part would probably be the demoulding and seeing how the marbling has turned out as well as pouring the Jesmonite itself.

Arielle: What’s your least favorite part?
Jodie: Definitely the sanding, I need to start working out more so my arms don't ache as much!
Arielle: How long have you had your business? What inspired you to launch a creative business?
Jodie: I've had an Etsy shop for around 5 years now and in November of 2020 I relaunched and changed my business name to Terrazzo & Titz when I started working with Jesmonite. A lot of my inspiration comes from homeware I'd like in my own home as well as colour palettes from my favourite prints and design.

Arielle: Is there something you wish people knew about your products?

Jodie: All my packaging is either recyclable or biodegradable, something I try and share as much as I can and it's super important to me as we're constantly ordering online and being bombarded by unnecessary packaging.
